My Gift To You

Being You means that every day should be a celebration

Today is extra special  because it’s the day you took your first breath and

You deserve all that is breathtakingly beautiful in the universe

If you let me, there is nothing in the world I won’t do to give it to you

But for now I’ll keep writing you these poetic verses

When a writer falls in love with you, you live forever

So I gift you immortality on your birthday

If my melodic sonnet shows you how amazing you are

My rhapsodic lyrics have served their purpose

I want the world to see you how I see you

May they one day feel what I feel whenever I am near you

Beyond handsome your whole being is beautiful, I see your worth

Not even close to what you deserve, just an homage to you on your day of birth.

You

I needed to see something different

I had it all but something was missing

I prayed, I waited and you came

Undeniably heaven sent

You showed me all things beautiful

You did that for me

Can you blame me for wanting all of you just for me?

More than physical

I love your soul

I see your heart

There are no words to express

The peace I feel in your embrace

Flashbacks of your smiling face

The last thing I see before I go to bed

Sweet dreams of my head on your chest

Listening to your heart mimic my beat

It’s almost religious

How you were exquisitely designed just for me

I prayed and you came

Undeniably heaven sent

All I see is beautiful

Because all I see is you

You came

You left

But what we had will forever remain

Eternal love

Not The Same

They say that distance makes the heart grow fonder

Maybe we both needed to be just a bit farther

We both thought it would all be the same

But there were no butterflies when I saw your face

I could not explain this awkward detachedness

It was you but it was different

This wasn’t the same person I had been missing

Flashbacks of when your hugs made my heart skip a beat

You had not yet kissed me and I already couldn’t breath

No

Who are you and where is He?

Same face…

Same body….

But not the same heat

Could it be that you’re the same and it is I who has changed?

That as time went by my love for you was replaced?

Was it always a facade?

I keep searching, please help me find you

Is it that I am in love with Him?

The Him that you no longer are?

Is He the one that still holds my heart?

Maybe it’s because you left

And with absence love was replaced with resentment

How do I explain to you that I’m in love with the memory of you

But I just don’t love you

I feel closer to you when you’re gone

Loneliness compliments the sadness of my loss

The distance makes the idea of “us” a comfortable existence

As I continue to yearn for the “we” that is now missing.
